ASx36: the ultra-high resolution absolute encoder in a miniature enclosure

Available now in single turn version (multi turn version under development and coming soon), this optical encoder is designed to provide superb quality and safety and ensure maximum service life and minimum downtimes in continuous operation.
It features a miniature aluminium enclosure with 36 mm flange diameter and both solid and hollow shaft types in stainless steel (6 mm diameter available for both shaft versions!). This allows for an incredible flexibility and maximum ease of installation in any industrial application, especially when installation space is limited. Despite its small size, ASx36 further ensures IP67-rated protection (IP65 at shaft side) and unparalleled resistance to large temperature fluctuations (up to -40°C +100°C). It is interesting to note that its compact dimensions are pretty much the same as typical resolvers, thus ASx36 is ideally suited to replace them yet encompassing superior operation performances and features.
The new series offers refined optoelectronic and optimized signal processing derived from the highest (and yet biggest) Hx58 series. This yields an outstanding and reliable encoder able to attain high resolutions up to19 bits single turn (524288 counts per rev.) and produce impressive accuracy even at highest speeds coming up to ± 0,01° (± 36 arc seconds) at 16-bit resolution. ASx36 is offered with synchronous serial interface (SSI) and all-digital BISS-C interface for high operating speeds, improved protection against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and enhanced bi-directional communication for subsequent controllers. Cable and M12 inline connector outputs provide additional benefit to suit the most common drives. Zero setting, preset and counting direction input functions along with protection against reverse polarity and short-circuit further complete the available configuration.
Because of the high resolution and the ultra-miniature size, ASx36 encoder is ideally suited for installation in the most advanced automation systems requiring accurate detection of position and speed and even in applications suffering from limited space. Typical application fields are small motors and especially servomotors including product handling equipment, pick & place robots, electronic assembly systems, printing and measuring machines, electro-medical and laboratory instruments, geared limit switches in wind turbines; further they are ideal to replace size 21 resolvers both in installation and retrofit.
