Engineered to withstand rough conditions and built to last, this 14-mm hollow shaft encoder is able to provide sturdiness and reliability and offers an ultra-rugged 10-mm thick anticorodal alloy housing with superior opto-electronics for dependable enduring service. Its mechanical properties along with the excellent encapsulation are designed to ensure robustness and durability even under harsh operating conditions, thus XAC77 is able to handle the most severe applications affected by high radial and axial shaft loads, extreme shock and vibration impacts as well as large temperature fluctuations. Furthermore it provides IP66-rated protection against environmental factors including dust, dirt, oil, grease, moisture, water jets and common chemical agents.
However, the need to meet such requirements does not lead to a rigid and inflexible system. XAC77 fieldbus encoder in fact encompasses superior benefits and affords outstanding flexibility and dependability. It can be easily integrated into industrial networks as it supports Profibus-DP, CANopen DS406 and DeviceNet fieldbus communication interfaces (DeviceNet interface will be available by the end of the year). Fieldbus technology permits to improve performance thanks to complete device interface (bi-directional data transmission, enhanced programmability, comprehensive diagnostic information), achieve communication transparency, simplify and standardize installations allowing several devices to be simply connected in the same network. In Profibus version this encoder complies with “Profibus-DP Profile for Encoders” and can be set as Class 1, Class 2 or Class 2(+VEL) device. So it includes both basic functions such as position and preset values and extended features such as scaling function control and velocity value. While in CANopen version it complies with “CiA Draft Standard 406” and supports NMT, PDO and SDO protocols with nodeguarding and cyclic/synchronous transmission features as well as the extended functions already stated about Profibus.
XAC77 absolute encoder has been devised for applications that demand high resolution and great accuracy and is offered in 30-bit multi-turn version (16-bit single-turn + 14-bit multi-turn). It further boasts a removable connection cap that accommodates the terminal connectors for power supply and the BUS IN and BUS OUT cables as well as the dip-switches for setting the node ID and the baud rate (when requested; node ID and baud rate are settable via software too). It allows for a more accessible and easier cabling. In addition the use of standardised bus cables provides a simplified and safe connectivity thus saving time and money whilst reducing the risk of errors.
